What if there was a way to be happy just by using your thoughts? Would you choose to change the way you think so you could be happy? Not just temporary happiness but, lifelong happiness? Would you do it?
You may have heard of the law of attraction before. If you haven’t, the law of attraction is a mindset, a way of thinking. It is using your thoughts to manifest the reality that you want. The law of attraction works whether you are thinking about what you want or what you don’t want. There is a quote that I love (I Love Quotes) by Henry Ford “Whether you think you can, or think you can’t, you’re right”. It doesn’t matter what you are thinking because the law of attraction works either way.
There is an infamous quote by the Buddha
What you think, you become
What you feel, you attract
What you imagine, you create
However, Buddha isn’t the only one to teach this very simple principle. Even in the bible
“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours. Mark 11:24
Of course, they are not the only philosophers/teachers who have taught this principle throughout time. It seems to be common knowledge amongst the spiritual leaders throughout history. What do they know that we don’t?
“Change your thoughts and you change your world” – Norman Vincent Peale
They all taught the law of attraction in some form or another. They all taught that our thoughts have a much bigger role in our reality than we may know. They all not only seemed to understand the principles of the law of attraction but, they used them as well to achieve what they wanted.
The law of attraction is a very simple principle. It is a tool to free ourselves from the bondage that is our mind. We have the tendency to manifest our worries, anxiety and fears when we dwell on the negative and what we DON’T WANT. For example . . .
Constantly thinking and worrying about the bills you have to pay. Guess what, you will still have bills to pay. Does that help to focus on them? Does that change anything?
On your way to work, you tell yourself, “I bet all the lights will be red and traffic is going to be crazy and I am going to be late.” – Yes. This will probably happen because you are focusing on that outcome even though it is not what you want.
At the store – ‘I bet they are going to be sold out of what I want.” They will be.
“I don’t ever want to be like him/her.” Guess what, you turn out just like the person you said you never wanted too. Do you remember someone telling you, “never say never”? That is because when we focus on what we don’t want and say “I’ll never”, we actually are manifesting those same qualities in ourselves.
When you focus on what you do want in life, like who you do want to become, what you do want to happen, those things do happen.
You wake up, stub your toe and proclaim that this is going to be a bad day. And you know what? It will be. If you don’t allow these external situations to affect your ability to think positively then, choosing to have a good day in spite of a rough morning will be much easier.
Do you understand now how you literally create what you think about? It doesn’t matter if what you think about is good or not so good, by thinking about it, you create it. So our reality really is a choice and we can create our own reality by what we think about.
First, you have to recognize that your thoughts do really matter and be aware of the thoughts you are having. No one knows what you think about but you. So be honest with yourself when your thoughts are not aligned with the results you want to get.
Now, you get to make the choice to change the way you think. It is easier said than done, this is true. However, with practice and awareness it becomes easier and easier until it is second nature to focus on positive results.
It doesn’t matter how old you are, where you live or what you do for a living. You can start right this very moment to change your life in a big way. If you find yourself trailing off into the negative abyss, don’t get discouraged. No one is perfect and we all have those moments. So don’t beat yourself up. Just start again. You’ll want to keep doing it because you will notice how your life, happiness and everyday living improves. Just a tip, tell yourself you can do it and believe it because you can do It. You don’t want to start off on the wrong foot now. It only gets better from here. If you want a more in-depth look into the law of attraction then, I suggest picking up a copy of the best-selling book, The Secret. This is one of the best books I have ever read. I’ll recommend it over and over again and I believe that you will see the potential in it too. See how I just affirmed that? You can do it.
. . . And since I’m from Texas, I thought I would sign off with one more simple quote from a good ole Texas-boy who is known for his hippie laid-back lifestyle and is also an advocate of the law of attraction. (I can totally relate)
“Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results” – Willie Nelson
