I just celebrated my birthday and spent it being happy

I just turned Thirty years old this past week and I have so much to share with you. I felt like this was a perfect message to share. I think 30 is one of the milestone birthdays where people either celebrate or cry. They take a look around at where their life has ended up and that can either make them happy or sad, depending on what they “expected” their life to be like. It is so easy to get caught up in this imagine of a perfect life. {I will have such and such accomplished by this date} and if you don’t, you feel like a failure. Life rarely ever works out how we planned it in our minds too. That is such a beautiful thing about life, it works out the way it is supposed to and with higher purpose than we intended. God knows what we need better than we do. I can truly attest to that. The day I let go and surrendered, was the day I felt real freedom for the first time. Life flows so much easier now and I feel so much happier to just let go of my need to control everything. I stopped fighting life, I went with the flow and I started changing the way I thought and felt. I stopped worrying about what everyone else was doing, what they thought I should be doing, the need to judge and simply started doing what I love and what makes me happy. That is where I am supposed to be in my life. In a state of harmony with the Universe. Thirty feels good. It’s a happy 30th Birthday indeed.

My husband bought me the best present ever. I have been wanting a bike for a while. I found this beauty at Walmart one day and I have had my eye on her ever since. My husband came home from work with her and made my day. As I get older, I get more simplistic, more practical and I want things that will enrich my life and If it helps me stay healthy too, then even better.

I shall call her “buttercup”. It has a basket, that my camera fits perfectly in. I just have to get a seat for Jax and we will be on our way, cruising around town. I’m gonna need a big hat to wear when I ride. She is a beauty. The only thing that could make this picture better is a big bouquet of fresh picked wildflowers in her basket.

As I was driving home on my birthday morning, I had a perfect opportunity to stop along the side of the highway, not to far from my house and take some photos. I love this spot and I could stop here everyday and snap some pics. But this morning I saw this one horse enjoy his morning, grazing across the field of grass and enjoying life.

One day, I’ll have the proper lens for taking these long distance landscape shots.
Until then . . . This spot has this wide, green, grass-covered plateau that drops off to a big valley with a large pond and lots of horses and cows. It is especially beautiful at sunrise. I adore it. I can’t wait to be able to capture it’s full potential.

With all of this birthday excitement and my new buttercup beauty, I decided to give my nails a little sprucing up. Yellow seemed like a great color and matches my bike. I may not be a fashionable girl, but I do love some cute nails. They are like Sunshine and Polka Dots. Don’t mind the polish that has made it’s way onto my skin. I can never stay in the lines and I just wait to take my shower at night and it washes right off. I just really don’t care.

Since I had to go to the grocery store on my birthday, I found these three colors of yellow, orange and an orange-glitter, that looks great on top of the orange. It gives the orange a speckled look. Happy Birthday to me. I saved $50 on pedicures and manicures and gained a few new polishes. I tend to do my own nails anyway. Mostly because I am frugal, but also because I love to see what I can come up with and I just hardly have time to go sit for an hour with a toddler.

I usually make my own birthday cake. I guess I am just spoiled and I don’t care for store bought cakes. Well grocery store cakes at least. Plus, I love to bake. So this year, since it is a big milestone birthday and I knew we would probably just be laying low, I decided to make a colorful, fun and festive cake. I can also freeze a giant slice and share it with my besty on her birthday in a couple of weeks.

It is a real challenge to make a nice cake around here with a toddler constantly trying to put his hands in everything. So with that said, I am feeling really proud of myself right now. There were supposed to be polka dots, but i guess I cut the wrong slice. Next time. {Makes you wanna pick up that slice and eat it without a fork }

 Then yesterday we drove out to my parents who live in the Texas Hillcountry and my mom made me a birthday dinner. Steak, potatoes, green beans and some sweet tea. Perfect dinner to me. Before dinner my husband, Jaxon, my step-dad and myself drove to the river, which is only about 5 minutes from my parents. There is this great place to get in the water on the Guadalupe right off one of the backroads. We have been going here for a long time. No paying for parking. No paying just to get In the water. I love that. While we were out there, I got some pictures of the life growing in my parent’s pond, their tortoises and all the wildlife – including lots of deer. My parents have a regular following of deer out at their house and when they hear my mom shaking the bucket of corn, they come a runnin’. Sometimes they will even let you feed them out your hand. It was a nice way to end my birthday festivities. A lovely day full of cake, nature and family. I can’t imagine ever needing anything more.

So, now that I have had thirty years of practice, education and life experiences to get me to where I am today, I am getting better and wiser everyday, in my opinion. I embrace getting older because I don’t like to fight life or the inevitable. This is life. Aging happens to everyone. I can either choose to be angry and bitter that I can never go back to my younger, more youthful self, or I can embrace the good that comes with age. Like wisdom and acceptance of what is or being truly happy no matter what is going on in life because I know It will pass and everything will work out for the good. I am really enjoying growing and learning. I love working on being a better person. I mean, who doesn’t want to be happy? If you want happiness, you have to find it, inside. Eternal happiness is in all of us. We just have to find it. There are no instructions or easy answers in this life, just love.

Here is to my next thirty years . . . Here is to loving more . . . Living more . . . and being Happy!

Blessings to all
